The Chatfield Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Columbine. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Chatfield's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Tony Rondinelli, who scored 15 points, and Liam Mcguire who scored 13 points. Rondinelli hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Creighton Chaney, who scored five points.
Columbine found their leader in underclassman Cash Boykin, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Boykin is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Matthew Kossik was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Chatfield bumped their record down to 2-12 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Columbine, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chatfield will take on Bear Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Bear Creek and Chatfield are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Columbine, they will be playing at home against Grandview at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Grandview presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Columbine in Colorado (Grandview is ranked 102nd, while Columbine is ranked 244th).
