The Winside Wildcats will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Osmond/Randolph Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Winside is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Winside struggled with offensive rebounds last Tuesday (Lyons-Decatur Northeast had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Winside fell 63-51 to Lyons-Decatur Northeast.
Winside's loss came about despite a quality game from Kaden Hunt, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Schutt, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, the matchup between Osmond/Randolph and Elkhorn Valley on Thursday hardly resembled the 34-15 effort from their previous meeting. Osmond/Randolph took a 62-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elkhorn Valley. While losing is never fun, Osmond/Randolph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Elkhorn Valley is ranked 23rd).
Winside's record is now 2-5. As for Osmond/Randolph, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
Winside strolled past Osmond/Randolph in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 42-25. Will Winside repeat their success, or does Osmond/Randolph have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
