On Wednesday Caden Brown struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). The effort also marked the fewest walks (zero) Brown has had since back in April of 2024. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his fourth in a row with less than two walks. This year, he has an ERA of 4.08 over 12 innings pitched.

Even though Brown couldn't lead Newton over Grayson, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 5:55 p.m. on Friday.
