The Baboquivari Warriors will face off against the Duncan Wildkats at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Baboquivari was handed a 17-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Fort Thomas 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since April 22, 2024.

04/08/25 vs Valley Union | 4 |
03/24/25 @ Duncan | 3 |
03/19/25 @ St. David | 3 |
04/22/25 @ Fort Thomas | 1 |
Siwdag Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. Baboquivari is 2-1 when Garcia allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jesse Buendia, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one double. Kolukeo Velasco was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Duncan entered their tilt with Patagonia on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Lobos with a sharp 16-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildkats, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Pablo Ruiz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ruiz was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ethan Hernandez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Dayton Penry, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Duncan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Duncan's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Baboquivari, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Baboquivari has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 10.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Duncan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Baboquivari couldn't quite finish off Duncan in their previous meeting back in March and fell 11-9. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
