Georgetown is 9-1 against Blanchester since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The G-Men will face off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Georgetown will be strutting in after a victory while Blanchester will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with eight losses in a row, Georgetown turned things around against Felicity-Franklin on Thursday. They blew past the Cardinals 13-1.
Ashley Mullins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Mullins was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Georgetown let Carolyn Edmisten and Chloe Inlow run wild. Edmisten went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Inlow went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Edmisten has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Preston, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Georgetown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Felicity-Franklin only posted a batting average of .211.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Blanchester duked it out with Bethel-Tate on Wednesday. The Wildcats lost 11-4 to the Tigers. The Wildcats have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Blanchester saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailie Bare, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another was Mackenzie Blankenbeckler, who earned one run and two stolen bases.
Blanchester's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Georgetown, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-10.
Everything went Georgetown's way against Blanchester in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Georgetown made off with a 15-5 victory. Do the G-Men have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
