Baseball Recap: Skyview Sets Scoring Season-High Against Overland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Skyview). They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Overland Trailblazers on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Caden Jensen looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Joseph Trujillo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Esquivel, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Skyview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.2.

Skyview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Overland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, Skyview and Overland will both be playing Gateway the next time they take the field. The Wolverines will host the Olympians at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Trailblazers will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
