The Unaka Rangers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 41-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Happy Valley. Unaka was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Happy Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Unaka lost, one person who can't be blamed is Haley Taylor. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Taylor scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Katlyn Dugger, who scored five points.
Unaka's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Happy Valley, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.
Unaka won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Greene at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th. West Greene and Unaka are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads. Happy Valley will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Unaka at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
