Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Fort Worth THESA Riders, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Gloria Deo Academy on Saturday, falling 73-24. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Fort Worth THESA's loss came despite strong showings from Layton Francis and Jaxson Naumann. Francis threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes, while Naumann picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown. Naumann's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards.
It was another big night for Nolan Chandler, who rushed for 178 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Chandler hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Caleb Ross, who picked up 64 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Fort Worth THESA now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Gloria Deo Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Fort Worth THESA does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gloria Deo Academy is on the road again on Saturday and play against Fort Bend Chargers HomeSchool at 12:00 p.m. on November 25th. Fort Bend Chargers HomeSchool is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
