Braddock is 0-3 against Florida Christian since March of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Patriots at 7:15 p.m. Braddock is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Braddock saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southwest.
Eduardo Echeverria was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jorge Gonzalez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Llamozas, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Florida Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Coral Springs 5-4. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Florida Christian also got a great performance from Sebastian Blanco as he struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave Blanco a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Jimenez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Florida Christian pushed their record up to 12-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Braddock, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5-1.
Florida Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Braddock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. It's a different story for Florida Christian, though, as they've only averaged .233. Will they be able to contain Braddock's hitters?
Braddock came up short against Florida Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, falling 5-0. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
