Columbia Academy fought the good fight in their overtime match against Fayetteville on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to the Tigers. Columbia Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Columbia Academy saw an underclassman step up: Haley Collins scored 24 points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Lillie Gentry, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Tennessee Heat's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 68-28 loss at the hands of Father Ryan. While losing is never fun, Tennessee Heat can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 327th, while Father Ryan is ranked 43rd).
Columbia Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Tennessee Heat, they bumped their record down to 2-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Columbia Academy against Tennessee Heat in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 72-44 win. Will Columbia Academy repeat their success, or does Tennessee Heat have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
