Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Thompson Valley

Thompson Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Northridge Grizzlies a 10-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-6 last Saturday.

Evan Raabe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Thompson Valley is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 2-5 otherwise. Raabe was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-2. That's the most home runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other pitching news, Jonathon Jack looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

Back at the plate, Beau Balliet and Sam Engelland did most of the damage at the plate: Balliet scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1, while Engelland scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Engelland has become a key player for Thompson Valley: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Landon Carrol was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Thompson Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Thompson Valley now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Northridge, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13.
