4A Region 8 recap September 17, 2013
Cole Casper of Maple Mountain ran for the longest rushing play in 4A Region 8 this season against Pleasant Grove last week. Casper's team fell to the Vikings as he sprinted for 76 yards on the play and finished with 134 in all.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Springville beat Spanish Fork 34-21,. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Red Devils.
Springville's dynamic duo of Dylan Slavens and Jessi Noll proved to be unstoppable against the Dons, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Slavens threw for 324 yards and 3 touchdowns and Noll had 126 yards receiving. Max Schreiner helped Springville's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 106 yards.
Willy Child's team's dynamic duo of Slavens and Noll proved tough for Spanish Fork to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Payton Mair made the biggest impact on defense this week as Wasatch bested Provo. He.

Noll was the best wideout in the league this week as Springville defeated the Dons.
Casper was the most successful running back in 4A Region 8 this week.
Salem Hills's Porter Gustin and Zack Zobell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-5 quarterback Gustin has thrown for 928 yards this season, while Zobell has 16 catches for 422 yards. Spanish Fork's Jason Money leads the league in rushing yards with 325.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Timpview and the Red Devils. The Thunderbirds enters the contest ranked fourth in the state, while Springville ranks 25th.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when the Skyhawks' Zobell goes up against the Wasps' Carson Law.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Salem Hills takes on Wasatch. Joel Higginson's team's offense has recorded 110 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Steve Coburn's team has permitted only 51 on the year.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Skyhawks and the Wasps face off next week.
Next week's game between Salem Hills and Wasatch will feature a good passing match up as Gustin will test his arm against Law's defensive ability.
The Red Devils were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting the Dons. Springville came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
