The Lawrence County Red Devils struggled with assists on Thursday (the Mae Jemison Jaguars had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lawrence County fell 47-35 to Mae Jemison. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lawrence County has scored all season.
Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jackson Smith, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Boyll, who scored eight points along with two steals.
It was another big night for Dakarion Bryant, who scored 16 points along with three blocks for Mae Jemison. Another player making a difference was PJ Williams, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Lawrence County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-14 record this season. As for Mae Jemison, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-13.
Lawrence County will be playing at home against West Point at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Lawrence County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday. As for Mae Jemison, they will head out on the road to take on Buckhorn at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Buckhorn's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 games.
