Two dominant signal callers in Julian Hainley and Blake Roskopf are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Cienega Bobcats will take on the Desert Edge Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Cienega is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They strolled past Sunnyslope with points to spare, taking the game 49-35. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.
Jaden Rodgers had an outrageously good game as he picked up 189 receiving yards and two TDs. He showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 63 yards. Cienega also got help from Ayden Billings, who showed off his sure hands for 84 receiving yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cienega's defensive line and their four sacks. Andrei Davis-Lopez was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last five games he's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Desert Edge). They breezed past Millennium to the tune of 66-27 last Friday. The win continues a trend for the Scorpions in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.
Desert Edge found their leader in sophomore Roskopf, who threw for 322 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 45 yards. Hajj Brown did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 38 receiving yards.
Desert Edge's run defense was locked in: Millennium could only muster 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Ramari Hodge for the heroic effort on defense: he. Desert Edge's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.84 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 8.57 on average over their last five games.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Desert Edge, adding 18 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Camren Hamiel, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Cienega's record is now 7-4. As for Desert Edge, their record now sits at 10-0.
Cienega suffered a grim 26-0 defeat to Desert Edge in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
