 In other batting news, Smoky Valley got a  massive  performance out of  Kate Griffin, who  went a perfect 4-for-4 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and two  doubles. Those  three  RBI gave  Griffin a new career-high.  Rylie Tolle was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with one  home run and four  runs.
 Smoky Valley was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .419. That's the best  batting average they've posted all season.
As for Lyons, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the  defeat, which was their 14th straight  on the road dating back to last season. The  game marked their lowest-scoring  contest so far this season.
 On Lyons' side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Jocelyn Vargas, who  went 2-for-3 with four  stolen bases, two  runs,  and one  double.  Avery Goforth also deserves some recognition as  she  hit her first  double of the season.
Smoky Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against Lyons: the pair will be back at it again later today.
