3A Region 3 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Charleston extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region 3 this week by beating Winona, 52-17. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Tigers.
North Panola took down Independence 46-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Byhalia's dynamic duo of Marquis Rodgers and Kenneth Wilson proved tough for Palmer to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Rodgers threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns and Wilson had 72 yards receiving. Antonio Wilson helped Byhalia's passing attack out by catching one ball for 34 yards.
Kameron Myers was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 191 yards on 11 carries as Charleston beat the Dragons. Teammate Deshadrick Truly added to the ground attack by rushing for 68 yards.
6-foot-3 quarterback Rodgers of Byhalia is the league leader in passing yards this season with 982. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. On the ground, the Tigers' Patrick Purnell has rushed for 1225 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tilmus Bradford. The Charleston star has 25 catches for 564 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Region 3 this week will be when the Cougars take on John Danley's team. As it stands, North Panola is in fourth, while the Indians are in third.
Tony Vance's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 52 points on Winona. Myers in the win.
