Softball Recap: Schoolhouse Prep Finds Playoff Glory Versus Mater Bay Academy

It's playoff time, and Schoolhouse Prep had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Mater Bay Academy Rays with a sharp 13-3 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Wolfpack, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Angelly Benitez was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Michelle Dominguez, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Schoolhouse Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Schoolhouse Prep's seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Mater Bay Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Schoolhouse Prep will take on Miami Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolfpack's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Victors have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. Mater Bay Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
