River View has gone 9-1 against Mount View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Raiders will take on the Golden Knights at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
River View gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Van 27-13. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.
River View got a massive performance out of Mileigh Goodman, who went 5-for-6 with five runs, six RBI, and two stolen bases. Lilly Perkins was another key player, firing off four runs, three doubles, and four RBI while going 4-for-6.
River View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .648. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Van only posted an OBP of .455.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mount View). They put the hurt on Twin Valley with a sharp 18-3 win on Saturday. Considering the Golden Knights have won three matches by more than 13 runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Shianne Belcher was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Belcher was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. She also brought in three RBI, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Ry'Anna Hood was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-1. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Krislyn York, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
The victory made it two in a row for Mount View and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for River View, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. River View has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .698. However, it's not like Mount View struggles in that department as they've averaged .483. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went River View's way against Mount View in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as River View made off with a 14-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
