The FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers lost a heartbreaker to the Gadsden County Jaguars when they met back in December of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Monday. FAMU DRS took a serious blow against the Jaguars, falling 77-40. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for FAMU DRS in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, FAMU DRS saw an underclassman step up: Eric Turral scored 16 points along with three steals. Turral hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games.
Nasir Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Gadsden County, dropping a triple-double on 23 points, 25 rebounds, and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Mosley, who scored 25 points along with two steals.
FAMU DRS's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-16. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Gadsden County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. FAMU DRS won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Taylor County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Saturday. As for Gadsden County, they will be playing at home against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Godby is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.
