Butte hasn't had much luck against Helena recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Bengals at 3:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Butte was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Hellgate on Saturday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 11-4 victory.
Ashlinn Mullaney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Mullaney was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Butte let Allie Becker and Kendallyn Schad run wild. Becker went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Schad got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Becker a new career-high. Gracie Jonart was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Helena waltzed into their game on Saturday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They never let the Braves/Bravettes get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Bengals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.
Not much got past Faith Howard, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Flathead off the board. Howard has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Keira Campbell was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Klemp, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Helena's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Butte, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-11 record this season.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Butte hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Helena struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
