The Bryant Hurricanes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chickasaw. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Chickasaw found their leader in underclassman Sydrus Gilmore, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of JaVon Mose, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Bryant's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-9. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Chickasaw, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bryant won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mobile Christian at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Mobile Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.4 points per game. As for Chickasaw, they will head out on the road to face off against Satsuma at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Satsuma will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 461st, while Chickasaw is ranked 215th).
