The Rangeview Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Ralston Valley Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Rangeview has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Ralston Valley will arrive with three straight wins.
Rangeview pushed their score all the way to 65 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Fairview by a score of 68-65. Even though they lost, Rangeview's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 51.9 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Archie Weatherspoon V, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mareon Chapman, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Ralston Valley earned a 56-44 win over United on Friday. Given Ralston Valley's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 30th in Colorado, while United is ranked 515th in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ralston Valley relied on the efforts of Jackson Hansen, who scored 14 points along with five assists, and Caiden Braketa, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and five steals. The matchup was Braketa's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jayce Bahl, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Rangeview has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Ralston Valley, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's matchup: Rangeview have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.7 threes per game. It's a different story for Ralston Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 7.9 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Rangeview took a serious blow against Ralston Valley when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 69-42. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Rangeview was down 33-11.
