The Mt. Pleasant Oilers pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 74-55 bruising from Powers Catholic. While losing is never fun, Mt. Pleasant can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Powers Catholic is ranked 32nd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Powers Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Javontae Ross, who scored 12 points along with nine assists and five rebounds. Christian Dedivanaj was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Mt. Pleasant and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Powers Catholic, their win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Pleasant will challenge Swan Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Powers Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Bridgeport at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
