The Blake Yellow Jackets can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Monday. They breezed by East Bay at home to the tune of 69-31. Given Blake's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while East Bay is ranked 496th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blake was led to victory by Kentrell Martin and Joe Philon. Martin dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Philon almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 11 rebounds, and nine blocks. Martin also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Thomon Godbolt was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
East Bay's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aaron Quarterman, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals, and Curry Staples who scored six points along with three steals. Quarterman hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games.
Blake's victory was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for East Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
Blake won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Freedom at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for East Bay, they will be playing at home against Lennard at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lennard has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 368 points over their last six matchups.
