After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Overland, the Thornton Trojans were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They snuck past Aurora Central with a 43-37 win. For Thornton, this counts as revenge for the 43-36 defeat Aurora Central walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Thornton was led to victory by Camryn Montelongo and Julionna Sandoval. Montelongo dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds, while Sandoval scored 18 points along with five assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sandoval has scored all season. Another player making a difference was My'la Hernandez Gutierrez, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Thornton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Aurora Central, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Adams City the next time they take the court. Thornton will host Adams City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Aurora Central will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
