After four games on the road, Plateau Valley is heading back home. The Plateau Valley Cowboys and the De Beque Dragons will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Plateau Valley is ranked 55th, while De Beque is ranked 76th).
Plateau Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 39 points or more this season. They breezed by Crested Butte on the road to the tune of 67-28. With Plateau Valley ahead 41-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Emaline Ealey continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ealey has scored at least 25% of Plateau Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Meloni Miller, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, De Beque unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 58-33 walloping at the hands of Rangely. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for De Beque in their matchups with Rangely: they've now lost four in a row.
De Beque's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ileeyah Herrera, who scored 11 points, and Avery Rigsby who scored six points along with five rebounds. Herrera set a new season high mark in points with 11.
Plateau Valley's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for De Beque, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Wednesday's matchup is shaping up to be a blowout: Plateau Valley hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 64.8 points per game. It's a different story for De Beque, though, as they've been averaging only 40 points per game. The only thing between Plateau Valley and another offensive beatdown is De Beque. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Plateau Valley came up short against De Beque in their previous meeting back in February, falling 49-44. Can Plateau Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
