Mahoning Valley - Scarlet Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Geno Perry Crosses Big Stat Threshold
On Friday, Lowellville got the W thanks in part to Geno Perry playing the best football he has all season. Perry rushed for 282 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 2.1 rushing touchdowns per game. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards.
For the season, Perry has averaged 22.2 receiving yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 35.33 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 184.78 rushing yards.

Springfield Wins Sixth-Straight Thanks to Dante Gentile
Dante Gentile was instrumental in extending Springfield's winning streak to six on Friday. Gentile was unstoppable, rushing for 187 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 115 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Gentile and Springfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Lowellville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers had to take a loss when they last met the Rockets, but Gentile had little to do with the loss: he rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown. Can he match (or beat) that performance?
