Baseball Recap: Peshtigo Has No Trouble Against Montello

While Peshtigo didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Montello Hilltoppers on Sunday. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' most dominant win of the season.

Elliot Proft was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Klimek, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Aiden Reiswitz, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory made it two in a row for Peshtigo and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Montello, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peshtigo will host Sturgeon Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Clippers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Montello, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Green Lake/Princeton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
