Hasbrouck Heights (N.J.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 34-13 win over
Butler (N.J.).
The Aviators put up six points in the opening frame. Hasbrouck Heights scored on a touchdown run by
Anthony Seidel.
After taking the lead on a Seidel touchdown run in the first quarter, HH led 27-6 at the half.
AJ Traina stood out for the Aviators in the win. The senior running back ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.
The Bulldogs'
Chris Heredia played well. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to six on the year.
Butler came in giving up 11.6 points per game this season. BHS struggled against Hasbrouck Heights' offense, which entered the game scoring 27.1 points per game. HH had given up an average of 15.8 points prior to the contest. The Bulldogs' 13 points were well below their season average of 28.0 per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Butler, which notched a 23-14 victory over Pequannock in its previous outing. The victory was a step in the right direction for the Aviators, which was coming off a 37-8 defeat at the hands of Pompton Lakes in its previous game. The loss snapped Butler's 3-game winning streak.
