Trinity Catholic scored a stunning upset when it knocked off New Canaan, 31-28. At the time, the Rams was ranked 16th in the state, while the Crusaders was 67th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Trinity Catholic, who took down 16th ranked New Canaan, 31-28. Shaquan Howsie ran for 146 yards and caught one passes for nine yards in the win.
Darien's dynamic duo of Henry Baldwin and Nicholas Lombardo proved tough for Warde to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Baldwin threw for 301 yards and four touchdowns and Lombardo had 134 yards receiving. Jackson Whiting helped Darien's passing attack out by catching two balls for 76 yards.
The Blue Wave's Baldwin and Lombardo have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Fairfield County in both passing and receiving yards. Baldwin has thrown for 576 yards this season, while Lombardo, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has seven catches for 304 yards. Stamford's Cameron Webb leads the league in rushing yards with 263.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Darien and St. Joseph. Rob Trifone's team enters the game ranked 14th in the state, while the Cadets ranks 20th.
St. Joseph was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Wilton 34-0. Joe Della Vecchia's team came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 39 last week.
