Softball Recap: Mercedes Has No Trouble Against Pace

Mercedes won the last time they faced Pace and things went their way on Tuesday too. Everything went the Mercedes Tigers' way against the Pace Vikings as the Mercedes Tigers made off with a 12-2 win. Considering the Tigers have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Ashley De Leon, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kayla Garza, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Mercedes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pace only posted an OBP of .364.

Mercedes pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Pace, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-6 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercedes will take on Donna at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mercedes is facing Donna at the right time seeing as Donna is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Pace, they will face off against Weslaco East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Weslaco East will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Pace surely won't give up without a fight.
