Williamsburg is 8-2 against Bethel-Tate since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wildcats will face off against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Williamsburg's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Bethel-Tate's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Williamsburg took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Gracie Graves spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kaityln Pollitt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaylynn Anderkin, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Williamsburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, Bethel-Tate posted their closest win since May 13, 2024 on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over East Clinton. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Astros recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Bethel-Tate also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kaylee Randolph gave up three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maddy Harness, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.
Williamsburg's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bethel-Tate, their record now sits at 7-5.
Bethel-Tate's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Williamsburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bethel-Tate, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Williamsburg keep running through batters, or will the Tigers buck the trend?
Williamsburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Bethel-Tate in their previous meeting last Friday, winning 11-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
