The Bandys Trojans lost against the Maiden Blue Devils back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Bandys received a tough blow as they fell 65-49 to Maiden.
Bandys' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lexi Vaughan, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Vaughan hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Dutka, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Khiara Culliver was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds for Maiden. That makes it three consecutive games in which Culliver has scored at least a third of Maiden's points. Another player making a difference was Kynsea Pugh, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
Bandys' defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-10. As for Maiden, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8.
Bandys will take on West Caldwell at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bandys is facing West Caldwell at the right time seeing as West Caldwell is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Maiden, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincolnton at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincolnton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 492nd, while Maiden is ranked 237th).
