The Trinity Christian Lions had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 50-14 win over Riverdale. Given Trinity Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Riverdale is ranked 517th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Trinity Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madison Bennett led the charge by scoring 20 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bennett has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabbie Grooms, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Trinity Christian pushed their record up to 11-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Riverdale, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian will challenge Starr's Mill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Starr's Mill is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Riverdale, they will head out on the road to take on Fayette County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fayette County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Riverdale likes a good challenge.
