The Dexter Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Penobscot Valley Howlers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dexter is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Dexter had to suffer through a rough 65-23 loss at the hands of the Wolverines. While losing is never fun, Dexter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Wolverines are ranked 13th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kellen Peavey, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Dexter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Penobscot Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 55-43 to Woodland.
Dexter's record now sits at 7-10. As for Penobscot Valley, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Dexter was able to grind out a solid victory over the Howlers in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 34-24. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dexter since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
