The Waller Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 34 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 49-34 fall against Klein Cain. While losing is never fun, Waller can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Klein Cain is ranked 103rd).
Klein Cain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Issac Mooring led the charge by rushing for 66 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 188 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Rodgers, who rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.
Klein Cain's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Waller's QB won't forget Trent Lancaster anytime soon given Lancaster sacked him five times.
Waller's defeat was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.6 points per game. As for Klein Cain, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Waller will head out on the road to face off against Tomball Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tomball Memorial is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Klein Cain, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tomball at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
