The Ellis Railroaders had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 56-6 victory over Syracuse. The result was nothing new for Ellis, who have now won four matches by 27 points or more so far this season.
Ellis had a senior duo take command as Logan Russell threw for 234 yards and four touchdowns and Mason Younger picked up 109 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Russell is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played.
Ellis' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Toby Honas and his two sacks.
Ellis' win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-4. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Syracuse, Republic County, and Oakley. As for Syracuse, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Ellis will play host again and welcome Sterling, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Syracuse, they will head out on the road to face off against Inman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
