John Carroll Catholic got a good showing from Preston Sullivan, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, Sullivan posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.
At the plate, Brennan Jones made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Key West has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 4.07 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They fell just short of Lake Mary by a score of 10-8. That's two games in a row now that the Conchs have lost by exactly two runs.
Jackie Niles was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season. Nelson Ong was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Key West's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for John Carroll Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
John Carroll Catholic's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. John Carroll Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Key West, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will John Carroll Catholic continue to outrun the ball?
