The Hatch Valley Bears will take on the Tucumcari Rattlers in a tournament on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Hatch Valley put up the most points they have all season on Tuesday. They blew past Lordsburg 24-1. With that victory, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

FRANKLIN WILLIAMS and MIGUEL MARQUEZ were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, WILLIAMS struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, MARQUEZ pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Hatch Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-4 otherwise. At bat, WILLIAMS went 3-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and seven RBI, while MARQUEZ scored two runs while going 2-for-5. That home run was WILLIAMS' first of the season.
In other batting news, ALAN RUIZ was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. JUAN RUIZ was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Hatch Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Tucumcari was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 21-11 to Logan.
Matt Gomez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Hatch Valley's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Tucumcari, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Hatch Valley skirted past Tucumcari 11-10 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Does Hatch Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tucumcari turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
