The Tombstone Yellow Jackets lost against the Benson Bobcats back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Tombstone ended up on the wrong side of a rough 61-40 walloping at the hands of Benson. That's two games in a row now that Tombstone has lost by exactly 21 points.
Despite the loss, Tombstone still got an impressive performance from Malachi Keller, who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Kobe Colins, who scored nine points.
Benson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Keelyn Payne out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Payne is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Judd, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Tombstone has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Benson, they pushed their record up to 13-15 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Tombstone does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Benson, they will head out on the road to face off against Veritas Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Benson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday.
