MOBILE, Ala. -
UMS-Wright Prep (Mobile, Ala.) snapped the six-game winning streak of
Beauregard (Opelika, Ala.), with a 21-7 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Gunner Roach touchdown run in the second quarter, the Bulldogs were up 6-0 at the half.
UMS-Wright Prep expanded its lead to eight points entering the fourth quarter. UWP scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Roach.
Beauregard's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by
Walker Meadows in the third quarter.
Coming into the game the Mobile school had allowed 19.1 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding the Hornets well below their season average of 38.6 points scored per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Beauregard, which notched a 44-16 victory over Jemison in its previous outing.
