Even though the Union Academy Cardinals scored an imposing 67 points on Tuesday, the Mount Pleasant Tigers still came out on top. Mount Pleasant secured a 71-67 W over Union Academy. The victory was familiar territory for Mount Pleasant who now have three in a row.
Union Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ethan Rangolan, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevin Goodson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Union Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Mount Pleasant is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Union Academy, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Pleasant will take on Gray Stone Day at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Union Academy, they will stay at home for another game and welcome North Stanly at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th.
