The River Valley Dust Devils can finally bid farewell to their 12-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 47-37 win over Madison Highland Prep. River Valley's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
River Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avery Waldrip, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Waldrip scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Amiah Welt, who scored six points along with 17 rebounds and four steals.
River Valley's victory ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-14. As for Madison Highland Prep, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Tonopah Valley at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Tonopah Valley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Madison Highland Prep, they will head out on the road to challenge Red Rock at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
