Houston is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Wasilla, who was ranked fifth at the time (Houston was ranked 19th). The Hawks came up short against the Warriors on Wednesday, falling 11-1.
Meanwhile, Palmer had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They beat the Huskies by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The Moose might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by ten runs or more this season.
Zander Landon and Tristan Barrey made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Landon tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Barrey pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At the plate, Landon went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Barrey went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Reed Craner was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Marques Hall, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Palmer's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Houston, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
