Basketball Game Preview: Neuse Charter Cougars vs. Falls Lake Firebirds + How To Watch

The Neuse Charter Cougars will square off against the Falls Lake Firebirds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Neuse Charter took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They breezed past Central Carolina Academy to the tune of 85-30. That looming 85-30 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Neuse Charter can attribute much of their success to Jeremiah Edwards, who posted 22 points and three steals, and Klayton Tew, who scored 17 points and six rebounds. The matchup was Edwards' fourth in a row with at least 22 points. Another player making a difference was Aiden Headlee, who earned seven points along with six steals and five boards.

Neuse Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Falls Lake didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Uwharrie Charter Academy on Friday, but they still walked away with a 60-56 win.

Falls Lake's win came from a few key players Neuse Charter will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dalton Parker, who shot 55% from the field en route to 16 points and eight rebounds. Those eight boards gave him a new career-high. Camden Cooke was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds.

Neuse Charter pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.0 points over those games. As for Falls Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
