2A/1A Three Rivers recap Oct. 23, 2012
St. Pauls made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,943 from 7,572. The improvement came about via a 56-10 victory over West Columbus last week.
The Bulldogs led 2A/1A Three Rivers in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Vikings. Kane Banner threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 153 yards in the win.
St. Pauls' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Shawn Williams chipped in 178 yards. Deion Gilchrist helped St. Pauls' passing attack out by catching three balls for 54 yards.
Malik Livingston was the best wideout in the league this week as Trey Sasser's team topped West Columbus. Livingston tallied two receptions for 88 yards.
Daymien McMillan made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Bulldogs bested Mark Little's team. The 5-foot-10 junior recorded one fumble.
Red Springs's Blake Greene and Zachary Leach have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Greene has thrown for 2066 yards this season, while Leach, a 5-foot-7 receiver, has 41 catches for 672 yards. Williams from St. Pauls leads the league in rushing with 1763 yards.
A big matchup in 2A/1A Three Rivers this week will be when the Bulldogs take on Fairmont. St. Pauls is currently in first, while the Golden Tornadoes are in fifth.
