The Jordan Falcons were the 67-57 winner over the East Chapel Hill Wildcats when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Jordan took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Chapel Hill on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Jordan has scored all season.
Jordan's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Ross jr, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Drew Johnson, who scored 11 points.
Leading East Chapel Hill to victory were Isaiah Styron and Samuel Smith. Styron scored 18 points along with five rebounds, while Smith almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Styron has scored at least a third of East Chapel Hill's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Aubrey, who scored two points along with two steals.
Jordan's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for East Chapel Hill, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jordan will take on Northern Durham at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Jordan is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in North Carolina (they are ranked 126th, while Northern Durham is ranked 263rd). As for East Chapel Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hillside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillsidepresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Chapel Hill in North Carolina (Hillside is ranked 116th, while East Chapel Hill is ranked 262nd).
