The Central Davidson Spartans entered their tilt with the Asheboro Blue Comets with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Central Davidson blew past Asheboro 61-27 on the road. Given Central Davidson's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while Asheboro is ranked 428th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Central Davidson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Raegan McCarn out in front who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Carlee Shoaf, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Asheboro still got an impressive performance from Sion Murrain, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Central Davidson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Asheboro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.
Central Davidson will be playing in front of their home fans against Oak Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oak Grove is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Asheboro, they will head out on the road to take on Montgomery Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Montgomery Central's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Asheboro has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
