North Summit is on a 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Rich is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The North Summit Braves will host the Rich Rebels at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
North Summit is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Duchesne: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that North Summit blew Duchesne out of the water with a 65-26 final score. The Braves pushed the score to 51-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles had no chance of recovering from.
Hayzlyn Murdock was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 17 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Stephens, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 19 rebounds.
North Summit smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Rich's strategy against Tintic on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Rich blew Tintic out of the water with a 55-14 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-4.
Rich found their leader in sophomore Molly Weston, who went 5 of 12 en route to 13 points and six steals. Weston is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games. Laci Mckinnon was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.
Rich's win bumped their record up to 14-1. As for North Summit, their victory bumped their record up to 17-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: North Summit has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 43.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Rich struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
North Summit didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Rich in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 59-54 win. Does North Summit have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rich turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
