Baseball Recap: Centennial Wins Going Away Against Kellis

Centennial won the last time they faced Kellis and things went their way on Thursday too. The Coyotes were the clear victors by a 22-2 margin over the Cougars. With that win, the Coyotes brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

James Gainey looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Centennial is 2-1 when Gainey allows two or fewer hits, but 9-11-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Xavier Escontrias was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for Centennial: the team is 3-1-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-11-1 otherwise. Nate Coutts was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Centennial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
